The Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, Pablo Rodriguez was in the region on Wednesday August 19th . The one who also holds the position of Quebec Lieutenant for the Trudeau government took advantage of his presence to meet with mayors from various municipalities, local businesses and a community organization.

Among the companies visited by Mr. Rodriguez, there is mention of Distillerie 3 Lacs in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, the Club de golf Saint-Anicet and the Barabas Brewery in Sainte-Barbe. The politician also spoke to the management of Friperie Communautaire Huntingdon.

“I’m touring Quebec, confirms Pablo Rodriguez. I am taking this opportunity to meet people, elected officials, organizations and entrepreneurs to keep a finger on the pulse, explains the parliamentarian. It is also an opportunity to take stock of our most recent programs created during the pandemic. We want to know if they still meet their needs. ”

In his discussions, the Leader of the Government stresses that it is essential for him to understand what works well and what does not work in the region. “These are good discussions. People tell me what is working well and what needs to be improved. This makes it possible to adapt our programs to support more families, organizations and businesses.”

As Quebec Lieutenant, Pablo Rodriguez speaks regularly with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. Moreover, after each tour, he makes a point of telling his leader the needs of the regions.

“I talk to ministers, to make sure that our policies reflect the needs. I take note of the requests and needs of the communities I meet. The government wants to be there and be a partner. So we have to know the needs.”
