New to politics, the defeated candidate in Salaberry-Suroît, Linda Gallant does not intend to feel sorry for herself. In fact, she gives a positive assessment of her first electoral campaign.

It was in the company of her volunteers, friends and members of her family that Linda Gallant followed the unveiling of the results at the Sucrerie des Gallant, located in Très-Saint-Rédempteur. Although the evening has not taken the desired direction, Mrs. Gallant says she is convinced that she will run again another time.

“I’m proud I did, says Mrs. Gallant. For 36 days, I was all over the riding to meet with voters. People are worried. Some gave up hope and confided in me that they would not vote. The message was unanimous. Voters want more for the riding.”

Linda Gallant does not intend to retire from politics. The complete opposite will happen. The most recent campaign made her want to be active in politics more than ever. “It is obvious that I will keep a close eye on the riding of Salaberry-Suroît. I know I can do something positive in politics. I knew that Mrs. DeBellefeuille was popular in the region and that she had a lot of experience. However, I am sure I would have been an excellent representative, to the government, for the people of our region. One day voters will say that it is important to be present at the decision table.”

The work done by Linda Gallant and her team has been colossal. According to the defeated candidate, the liberal partnership in Salaberry-Suroît is healthy. “We have strengthened the partnership. There is still work to be done and this work begins tomorrow.”
