In some sectors, labor issues are still important. This is particularly the case at the Barrie Memorial Hospital. Thus, the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest is temporarily upgrading services, offering collaborative work between two hospitals.

Users presenting themselves to the Hôpital du Suroît emergency department with a need for hospitalization may be hospitalized at both the Hôpital du Suroît and the Barrie Memorial Hospital, while respecting the available hospital capacities. The objective of this measure is to use the Ormstown hospital to its full potential, in particular for its teams and its technical platform, but also to lend a hand to the Suroît and thus ensure the provision of safe and secure care and quality services for customers. With this measure, the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest confirms the important contribution of the Barrie Memorial Hospital to the well-being of the population.

The workforce issues: a CISSS continuously in action

In addition to staff recruitment actions, the management of the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest states that it is constantly thinking about the various possibilities in order to overcome these important issues. In addition to the measures announced in recent weeks, there is in particular an action plan to keep as low as possible the number of users waiting, in our hospitals, for housing or home care. The current level is the lowest we have seen in recent years.

“This mobilization between the medical teams and the staff of these two hospitals shows that it is by working together that solutions can be found. Congratulations to the teams for their great collaboration, underlines Philippe Besombes, Deputy Director General of general and specialized physical health programs. The labor shortage is an issue we had to work with even before the start of the pandemic. We must continue to work together to put in place short and long term solutions for the safety of employees and users, which is at the heart of our concerns.”
