Mental health: Resources in the area | VIVA MÉDIA Skip to main content

One of the invisible scourges of this pandemic is mental health. Everyone has had to deal with lockdown and isolation during Covid-19. In some cases, this can lead to psychological distress or depression. Several organizations and resources that deal with mental health are present in the territory and are worthy of mention.

Covering the territories of Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Beauharnois-Salaberry, Le Tournant is a crisis and suicide prevention center. The latter offers a range of services to anyone living in a situation of suicidal, psychosocial, psychiatric or even emotional distress. The center has a 24/7 hotline to allow people in crisis to be heard at any time of the day or night. To contact Le Tournant, please call 450 371-4090 or toll free at 1 833 371-4090.

Tel-Aide

Tel-Aide, which is quite well known in the Beauharnois Salaberry region, offers telephone services for people who are alone, who are experiencing stress at work or professional burnout. The service also receives calls from all over Quebec and helps young people and adults.

“We have around 40 volunteers who listen actively to allow callers to talk about their problem, says Phébée Paquette-Bordeur, volunteer coordinator at Tel-Aide. We believe that the people who call Tel-Aide have all the tools in hand to solve most of their problems and we help them to achieve it.”

The hotline can redirect people when needed to other resources such as 811. To reach Tel-Aide, call 450 377-0600 or toll free at 1 855 377-0600.

The Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS) of Montérégie offers a mental health clinic for young people and adults. Their services are aimed particularly at people who have more specific and severe problems such as major depressive disorders, severe adjustment problems, high risk of suicide or problems with generalized anxiety.
