“Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.” – By Charles M. Schulz

The month of December is always such a special time of the year. No matter where you go, there always seems to be joy in the air. Walking into stores you hear the familiar Christmas songs that sometimes hold a special place in your heart, and instantly can put a tear in your eye or a smile on your face. It is the time where you see everyone out buying the “perfect” gift for someone special.

Given the time change that happens in November, December usually is a month where it is dark out most of the day; however, the Christmas lights make it seem so bright. There is something so peaceful about a winter walk, admiring all the beautiful lights.

December is also the starting of the busy time of the year and the celebration of the biggest holiday season, Christmas. As Christmas can be a joyous holiday to some, many people are alone during the holidays. The last two years with the pandemic; traveling to see family has not been an easy option for most people. This is a reason why organizations like MWCN are so important to reach out to all the community during this time of the year.

At MWCN, Christmas is a time to give back to our community. Throughout the year we are supported by our members and the community, and Christmas is a time where we express our gratitude.

For an organization to serve such a big territory, the staff and the board of directors are such an essential part of our organization. This year, our Christmas festivities start by treating the team to a dinner to celebrate the season. On December 15th, MWCN is hosting a “Christmas Concert” at the local legion, branch 108 in Châteauguay, where our members can enjoy a turkey dinner with all the trimmings while listening to the wonderful voices of local musicians.

Throughout the month of December MWCN is holding a variety of Christmas inspired activities, ranging from Christmas Bingo to Christmas crafts and much more.

To reach out to our community, MWCN has put together a food and toy drive, whereby we will be supporting families in need in the community. Donations are being asked of our membership, and it is amazing to see how the membership of MWCN come together to support our community. The generosity is simply outstanding, and we are looking forward to helping so many deserving families during this special season of giving.

We would like to take this time to wish everyone a great holiday season filled with love, laughter, and most of all good health.
