Great Walk (Grande Marche) Pierre Lavoie | VIVA MÉDIA Skip to main content

In collaboration with the Cité des Arts et des Sports, the City of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield invites the population to the Great Walk (Grande Marche) Pierre Lavoie. Thus, on October 16th, a 5 km route will be offered to walkers, starting at the rotunda area of parc Delpha-Sauvé.

Participants are invited from 10:30 a.m. to the reception area located in the center of parc Delpha-Sauvé. The march will kick off at 11 a.m. Host Geneviève Chenail will energize the activity on board the mobile stage. Participants will walk along Victoria Street to parc Marcil, take part of rue Ellice and continue on rue Beaulac to the intersection of rue Champlain. The walkers will then take the same route back to return to parc Delpha-Sauvé. Note that the vaccination passport will be requested for people 13 years of age and over.

Organized locally by the Cité

des Arts et des Sports, in partnership with the City of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, the Great Walk is first and foremost an initiative encouraged by Le Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie, in collaboration with the Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ). You can register for free on the onmarche.com website.

The route remains accessible to people with reduced mobility and strollers. The participant who wishes to take part in the activity with their dog are allowed to do so, if the animal is kept on a leash. Note that the Great Walk is held in about a hundred cities across the province. The 7th edition offers a hybrid formula, presented over three days, depending on the municipality. The walker can enroll in an organized route or complete 5 km at their own pace starting where they desire. The activity takes place rain or shine!
