The Montérégie West Community Network (MWCN) has been active in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region for the past two years, offering the English-speaking community a place to gather, train, inform and exchange on any subject that might be of interest to you.

We have a satellite office in Pincourt for Vaudreuil-Soulanges and our head office is in Châteauguay since we cover the entire territory of the Montérégie Ouest.

The MWCN is specifically involved in social and community development. Social and community development is an approach that aims to promote the quality of life and the development of citizens of all ages and all conditions, to foster the development of supportive communities and to reduce the effects of social and economic inequalities.

In Vaudreuil-Soulanges, we have a coordination committee made up of mayors and citizens of the territory. This committee’s mission is to develop a strong and dynamic English-speaking community in Vaudreuil-Soulanges through culture, education, health, social and community services as well as the development of a network of partnership initiatives.

The processes that we favour are the following: fostering citizen participation, promoting and supporting empowerment, fostering and supporting collaboration and partnership, promoting and supporting community development, promoting the harmonization of municipal and public policies and finally, fighting against the effects of social and economic inequalities.

Four fundamental values underlie our action: social justice, equality among people, citizen engagement and participation and finally, sustainable development.

We are concerned about all clientele: families, early childhood (0-5 years), children (6-17 years), young adults (18-35 years), women, men, seniors, cultural communities and people with disabilities.

Here is an idea of the specific themes that motivate us: recreation and sport, culture, public safety, land-use planning, housing and social housing, transportation, environment, municipal organization, support for community organizations, food security, citizen participation, equality, cultural communities, day-care services, healthy lifestyle habits, the concept of active aging, the fight against poverty and social exclusion, educational and social success of young people, natural caregivers, etc.
