The curbside collection will be back to the delight of Moisson Sud-Ouest and those who will benefit from it. After a compulsory one-year break, due to the pandemic, the 18th edition will take place on Thursday, December 2.

Each year, the success of this national event is guaranteed thanks to the participation of the municipalities of Suroît, local partners and hundreds of volunteers who generously agree to contribute to the organization of this day.

Moisson Sud-Ouest is currently looking for volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the day. “We need people who can give 2 to 12 hours of their time to support our cause”, says Marjolaine Lacroix, Community Relations Coordinator at Moisson Sud-Ouest. Whether you are alone or in a group, this is a great way to get involved in your area!

“The Media Food Drive is an essential activity that is part of a collective effort to help families and seniors who are affected by food insecurity in the region, throughout the year”, says Geneviève St-Jacques Thériault, Director of Development and Philanthropy at Moisson Sud-Ouest.

Over the past year, Moisson Sud-Ouest has collected, sorted and redistributed more than 707,147 kg of food for a value of $ 6,851,843.69. According to HungerCount 2021 report, the organization has helped more than 8,300 people per month, 44% of whom are children. The latest statistics received paint a grim picture of the increase in demand for food support in the region.

“Needs have jumped by 30% since the beginning of the pandemic and they are not going to decrease. On the contrary, many families are getting poorer”, says Stéphane Spisak, General Manager of Moisson Sud-Ouest.
