Different transportation... Why not... | VIVA MÉDIA Skip to main content

The Montérégie Regional Environmental Council (CRE Montérégie) marks the month of September as the month of sustainable mobility.

CRE Montérégie is joining the Centres de gestion des déplacements (CGD) and the J’Embarque movement in Montreal to offer you the most motivating program. The objective of the movement is to create a real enthusiasm for sustainable mobility in Montérégie.

We must admit, the automobile retains an important place in the daily life of most citizens. However, CRE Montérégie believes that we must reassess its place and its systematic use for our travels. The transportation of people is responsible for 43% of greenhouse gases (Québec 2017 GHG inventory). This is why the CRE Montérégie offers resources that help to try a means of transportation that is socially, economically and environmentally beneficial.

“The month of sustainable mobility is a very good opportunity for citizens to try new means of transportation, says Benoît Péran, deputy director of CRE Montérégie. Take one trip at a time to find the means of transportation that meets your needs and your personal reality. Don’t try to change everything all at once, go gradually and step by step“.

A week to try alternatives to a car

CRE Montérégie is once again a partner and participant in the Défi sans auto solo of the Association des CGD du Québec (ACGDQ). From September 13th  to 19th , the CRE Montérégie team will take on the challenge of finding sustainable means of transportation for their travels. Participation prizes specifically for our region are offered! The CRE Montérégie also challenges its partners and members to dare to surpass themselves and register for the Défi sans auto solo.

Get on board! Montérégie, a free platform full of resources to find the different options for making your travels in a sustainable way. It also groups information on the carpool parking network under the “P” icon. The network grew in 2021 thanks to the many municipalities of the Vallée-du-Richelieu RCM that are participating in the project. Its objective is to allow you to access the identified parking lots by car and then make the majority of your travel by carpooling. Under the star icon, inspiring sustainable mobility initiatives in Montérégie are presented to you. Discover the team’s favorites by subscribing to our social networks.
