Celebrating our community volunteers | VIVA MÉDIA Skip to main content

During the week of April 19 – April 23, MWCN celebrated their many wonderful volunteers, some of whom continually go above-and-beyond in all that they do.

MWCN was very pleased to deliver Certificates of Recognition to 9 honorees, received from Peter Shiefke, MP of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. (Photo MWCN)

The Pincourt office, serving 23 cities in the MRC of Vaudreuil-Soulanges, started the week with a ‘Volunteer Kick-Off’. A terrific video made by Brian Gallagher, musician, and writer for ‘Your Journal’, was presented with live music, portraying some of the volunteers that have helped throughout this Covid year. We also had the privilege to have Pauline Wiedow, Executive Director, as our speaker for a wonderful zoom presentation of ‘The Value of Volunteering’. Each participant had an opportunity to recount their personal experiences of volunteering during their lifetime. Throughout the week, other activities took place which included Bingo and Scatagories hosted on Zoom by our Chateauguay office. What fun, and thoroughly enjoyed by all the participants.

We took pleasure in thanking our volunteer writers who contributed to our monthly newsletter – ‘Community Column’, volunteers who delivered care packages to isolated seniors, which included Easter baskets, maple syrup and wonderful hand-made Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and Mother’s Day cards made by students from St Patrick’s, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Mount Pleasant and Soulanges elementary schools. We thanked our volunteers who helped with translation, volunteer teachers from our English conversation classes, and crafters who helped us organize fun and well-needed creative activities. We also honored 9 very special volunteers, who not only helped MWCN thrive during this past year, but who give of their time to our community at large. These honorees received Certificates of Recognition issued by Peter Schiefke, MP of Vaudreuil-Soulanges.

Did you know that volunteering makes a significant difference? The most obvious is that it is extremely rewarding. You develop new skills with hands-on experience. You enhance your education and build a great resumé. It helps you explore other interests, not to mention creating balance in your life. And…. You get to meet new people!

Why we love our volunteers!!

  • Commitment to community is evident in everything they do.
  • Volunteers have an attitude of gratitude and a commitment to serve.
  • The heart of a volunteer beats in service to others.
  • Volunteers add value to everything they touch.
  • Volunteers make the world a better place.
  • Service above selfishness. That’s the decision they have made.
  • Their selflessness is an inspiration to others.
  • We are humbled by the generosity and selflessness of our volunteers.
  • Who among us has not at some time been impacted positively by the generosity of a volunteer?
  • Who can change the world? Volunteers, that’s who!
