On September 24th  and 25th , John Abbott College will host the Green Innovation Challenge.

Sponsored by Desjardins and inspired by the “Startup Weekend” concept, the event will challenge students from the entrepreneurship centers of John Abbott College, Cégep Gérald-Godin and Vanier College to find a solution to a local or global problem of their choice on the theme of sustainable development and social economy.

This event offers students the opportunity to develop general skills and find solutions to real world problems using the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a frame of reference. On a practical level, the teams will participate in a series of intensive workshops and group work.

Partner

Desjardins is the perfect partner for this mobilizing event. “The Green Innovation Challenge is directly linked to our values of commitment, intercooperation and solidarity with the community”, explains Stéphane Lavoie, general manager of the Caisse Desjardins de Bordeaux – Cartierville – Saint-Laurent.

For his part, the general manager of the Caisse Desjardins de l’Ouest-de-l’Île, Serge Poirier, indicates that the challenge will make it possible to maximize the passion and talent of students to develop initiatives focused on a socially responsible future and a sustainable economy.

$ 5,000

At the end of the event, the teams will present their project ideas to a jury that will determine the winning team that will receive a $ 5,000 prize offered by Desjardins. Prizes will also be awarded to teams that finish second and third.
