The Huntingdon Scouting movement is always working hard within their communities to help make a positive change. MWCN was happy to open their doors to offer a place for the 1st Huntingdon Beavers to host a meeting and prepare for their community outreach.

Beaver leaders, Shawn McNamee and Kristen Legros-Carrigan, gathered with their 7 beavers to happily welcome two new members to their pack. At the same time, taking advantage of being physically together, they helped decorate small wooden Christmas trees that will be handed out to local senior’s homes to help make Christmas just a little brighter.

The Beavers, Cubs and Scouting movements all gathered the same week for their monthly meeting. Each section had their own activities (baking, learning, playing, and discovering) and all made snowmen crafts. Most importantly, they collected food for our local food bank, La Bouffe Additionnelle.

To add to the Christmas spirit, Shawn, also a member of the Elgin and District Pipes and Drums, along with two other volunteers, will be visiting the 7 senior’s homes and playing Christmas Carols on special parlour pipes, which are a smaller version of the highland pipes used for indoors. Shawn is looking forward to donating the kids crafts during this time.

BRING ON THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT AND BE THE LIGHT THAT HELPS OTHERS… and that is certainly the case with these young people. We are so very proud of them and their leaders and look forward to future initiatives and partnerships that can continue to enhance our local communities.
