“The beautiful spring came, and when nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also.” – Harriet Ann Jacobs

Springtime in Quebec is fully underway! Flowers and trees are starting to bloom! The familiar honking of the Canada geese is a welcome sound as they return from their migration. The air is filled with the sweet smell of lilacs. The earth is waking up from its winter sleep. The Montérégie West Community Network (MWCN) is also getting geared up for spring and summer with a variety of different programs and activities to be enjoyed both inside and outside. Here are just a couple of these activities:

Walk & Talk

Every Tuesday morning at 10 AM, our walking group for the Huntingdon Wellness Centre meets at the Gazebo in Prince-Arthur Park, Huntingdon.

The walking group is a great way to get some exercise, have a pleasant discussion with fellow members and enjoy the beautiful weather! This also gives us, at MWCN the opportunity to share information about our upcoming activities and also covid guidelines.

With Summer right around the corner, we hope to see you there! By next week we will also have our new summer student, Katherine MacKay with us and she will join us for the summer.

A Trip Through Time

On Thursday mornings, we host an activity called “A Trip Through Time”. In this activity we look at different countries from around the world and explore their history, culture, and geography.

The best part is always hearing the personal connections to these countries or cultures. This activity is becoming popular not only with local community members but also from others far and wide.

Unfortunately, because of Covid-19, we have had to switch this activity from a live one, to one hosted on Zoom. Hopefully once all the vaccinations have taken place, we can go back to being both a live session and on Zoom. This may also be something that we can change in the near future as more and more people become vaccinated and the guidelines from Public Health and the Premier become more relaxed as we enter the orange and yellow zones in the near future.

The hard part is done and we have lots to look forward as we ease ourselves out of this pandemic that has taken hold of us for far too long.

This is just the tip of the iceberg and MWCN is looking forward to a summer full of events and laughs. We hope that you will be able to join us and enjoy the summertime.
Call our office at any time and register for some of the activities ongoing and learn more about the activities that are being planned for the upcoming months. Be safe.
