Santa Claus is ready and in good shape | VIVA MÉDIA Skip to main content

Significant encounters are common for journalists. However, it is not every day that it is possible to make exceptional encounters. VIVA MÉDIA had this opportunity by having a meeting with Santa Claus.

Let’s be honest, this year it’s impossible to travel to the North Pole directly to Santa’s workshop. Rather, it was via Zoom that the interview took place. Right off the bat, the man with the long white beard confirms that he is ready for his great gift distribution.

“We will be finishing the gift wrapping soon, said Santa. The elves have worked very hard this year because the children have been very good. I even had to reinforce my sled because the gifts were so heavy. I believe the children will be happy this year.”

Santa is training hard to be in top shape to complete his tour. This year, his efforts are important. “I didn’t take a chance. I was very careful about what I ate. I ate a lot of vegetables, but I also ate 24 stuffed buns, three meat pies, two chicken potpies, 5 plates of stew, two plates of spaghetti and one plate of fish every day. On Sundays and Tuesdays, I also added 10 pounds of potatoes and a small pot roast to my diet.”

Santa says he doesn’t exercise a lot. “I don’t really exercise. I just do 20 kilometers of snowshoe hike every morning. The rest of the time I work in my workshop and at night I am so tired that I will take a bath in the Arctic Ocean. Sometimes I take the opportunity to have a chat with polar bears. They are really nice, especially the white ones.”

Impossible to discuss with Santa Claus without addressing the current situation. The now 1,751-year-old man explains that his magic allows him not to worry. “Children don’t have to be afraid. I can go everywhere without any problem and I will do my rounds. The only thing I would like changed is that sometimes the kids leave 2 cookies and a glass of milk. As I explained earlier, I pay attention to my diet so if it is possible to leave me 3 cookies, that would make me really happy. “

What is a well-behaved child

Often, we hear that only well-behaved children receive gifts. Santa Claus confirms that this is indeed the case. However, he explains an important point. “For me, all children are good, underlines Santa Claus. Sometimes there is a little time when it is more difficult, but after all, you have to remember that these are children. When I was 200 years old, I was sometimes excited and forgot to listen to my parents, but when they warned me, I calmed down and remembered that I had to be good.”

The most requested gifts

Santa Claus confirms that dolls, racetracks, trucks and electronics are the most popular toys. “We made several kinds of gifts so that the children would be happy. But, sometimes it can happen that I am not able to make the requested gift. Then I put a note in my notebook and try to practice for the following year.”
