MWCN Huntingdon’s ART POD | VIVA MÉDIA Skip to main content

I’ve always thought of myself as an artistic person; however, I’ve never loved speaking to an audience.

Fortunately, my job as a summer student with MWCN gave me the opportunity to combine those two aspects by hosting my own Art Pod sessions and animating them as well; therefore, I couldn’t say no.

The first Art Pod was Mason Jar painting. The first session was a smaller group but those who attended had a good time. Finding an activity to do for the first Art Pod gathering was easy; however, coming up with the next activities took a lot of Pinterest searches and YouTube art videos. Finally, after lots of searching, I found an activity that could be completed within the one hour timeframe: scrapbooking! With advertising the event, I was still unsure as to who would be attending so; therefore, I had no idea who to expect. For that reason, it was a great surprise to find that when Art Pod started on the following Monday morning, a group of my relatives arrived at the office with their pictures in hand ready to start scrapbooking. A great time was had by all.

Hosting these Art Pod sessions has been a success with this group participating each week in other types of art activities. These sessions offered at our Huntingdon Wellness Centre provided a fun time for participants to socialize and create together.

These informal gatherings have been engaging and have provided me with an opportunity to practice animating the sessions while doing art activities that I enjoy organizing.

Thank you to MWCN for providing me with the opportunity to expand my talents, bring community together and to everyone who participated for helping to make them a successful venture.
