These funds will be used to acquire a new warehouse as well as equipment necessary for the proper functioning of the organization. These additions will allow Moisson Sud-Ouest to adequately respond to the volume of incoming food.

“To be able to serve more than 80 organizations in Beauharnois-Salaberry, Haut-Saint-Laurent and Vaudreuil-Soulanges, with quality food, in sufficient quantity and without waste, the organization must have a larger warehouse, says Stéphane Spisak, General Manager of Moisson Sud-Ouest. The current one does not offer enough space. We could give out more food, but we don’t have room to keep it!”

707,147 kg

This year, Moisson Sud-Ouest collected, sorted and redistributed more than 707,147 kg of food for a value of $ 6,851,843.69. The organization has helped more than
7,500 people per month, 40% of whom are children.

This past year has not been easy at Moisson Sud-Ouest. The requests were numerous. Since the start of the pandemic, the organization as seen an increase by nearly 30%.

Already a big donor involved. Off to a good start!

The 4 Caisses Desjardins in the region granted $ 125,000 to this promising project for the community. Several other companies, including Davison Grace Canada, General Dynamics, Quinn Farm, BMB Assurances Inc, also contributed to the campaign. “On behalf of the four caisses in our region (Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Beauharnois, Haut-Saint-Laurent and Vaudreuil-Soulanges), it is with pleasure that I accepted the honorary presidency of this essential campaign Pour arriver à nos faims. Collectively, the regional caisses are proud to donate more than $ 100,000 to this major campaign. Our involvement goes beyond financial support, we are a committed and present partner and we work to leave a legacy in our community. Together we can make a difference”, said Mr. Napoleoni.

Call to all

The organization is appealing to business owners in the region to also contribute. “Moisson Sud-Ouest needs all the support of the business community to continue to feed the people of the region. Helping Moisson Sud-Ouest means helping more than 80 organizations located in the three territories served. It is also about making the choice to have an impact in our community by helping those in need, while avoiding food waste. Let’s come together to invest in a sustainable project and ensure the sustainability of an essential service here”, emphasizes Pierre Luc Joncas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Moisson Sud-Ouest.
