The Smile Cookie campaign, which took place from September 13th  to 19th , 2021 to benefit the Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît, broke a record with a total amount raised of $ 80,341.

In the Montérégie-Ouest region, the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign has been organized since 2018 for the benefit of the Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît. This year, the enthusiasm was felt by the entire population.

20 Tim Hortons restaurants from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Vaudreuil-Dorion, Les Coteaux, Coteau-du-Lac, Rigaud, Pincourt, Saint-Lazare, Ormstown, Beauharnois and L’Île-Perrot have chosen to change the world in collegiality with the Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît.

“We are very proud to have succeeded in raising all these funds for an important cause such as youth mental health. We are proud, thanks to our teams, to make such a big difference for our community”, said Dan Lajeunesse, branch manager of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and Ormstown and Behzad Baghdadi, franchisee of Vaudreuil-Dorion and Saint-Lazare.

More than 5000% more than the target

The annual campaign enabled the Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît to exceed its set goal of $ 75,000 by reaching the extraordinary sum of $ 80,341. This amount will allow the organization to support the VIGILANCE project, a concerted initiative of the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest and community actors aimed at improving the living conditions of the most disadvantaged school-aged youth in the region as well as youth mental health.

“We are so touched and impressed by this wave of love and generosity to support the mental health of our youth. Since 2018, more than $ 180,000 has been raised, and each year the amount continues to grow. It’s impressive. This demonstrates the unprecedented contribution of our community to the well-being of the people here”, said Michèle Cyr-Lemieux, Executive Director of the Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît.

Creativity was at the heart of this 4th  edition with the culinary contribution of local restaurants. JAZZ, DEZ Taverne Urbaine, McBroue and Le Club Touriste Resto-Bar located in downtown Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, creating special recipes incorporating Smile Cookies.

The Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît wishes to congratulate and mark the extraordinary work of the team at the Tim Hortons branch located on rue Alphonse-Desjardins in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, which sold 29,350 Smile Cookies. The team proudly finished 1st in Quebec and 4th  in Canada in the ranking of restaurants having sold the most Smile Cookies.
