Annual fundraiser recreating 60’s Vegas
The Hudson Village Theatre is going to do it their way in early October when hosting an annual fundraising gala that will pay tribute to the Rat Pack era made famous by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.
HVT president Kalina Skulska says the gala is the theatre’s opportunity to thank the patrons who support the professional English-language theatre throughout the year.
“We want to give them a very enjoyable evening that’s part show and part friendly mixer,” she said.
Partnering again with C2 Entertainment, which brought the very successful Summer of Love show to Hudson in July, the Oct. 5 gala will feature tribute show Memories of the Rat Pack. Called the “best Rat Pack show in North America,” patrons will be able to choose between attending one of two performances – 5 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.
Skulska said the tribute will transport audiences to the early 1960s and the Las Vegas Sands Hotel over which Sinatra, Martin and Davis Jr. reigned supreme.
It will feature more than 40 hits including: My Way, Everybody Loves Somebody, Mr. Bojangles, and more.
“It’s done by a phenomenal group of six musicians and three incredibly talented singers who are just amazing in their impersonations of the Rat Pack,” Skulska said. Memories of the Rat Pack has toured all across Canada and the U.S., as well as several times throughout Europe.
Before each show guests will be offered catered foods created by chefs from Carambola Restaurant in Hudson under an enormous fully covered tent set up in the theatre’s parking lot. “It will have a wonderful living room-like motif that will be a takeoff of the Sands Hotel,” Skulska explained.
Staging the tent will be artisans from Hudson’s Two Barn Owls boutique.
And guests will be able to buy raffle tickets for a chance to win one of many Rat Pack themed gift baskets. There will also be a silent auction. Skulska said the tent portion of the evening will allow people to mingle and to meet and greet those they might not know.
