Highway accident claims life of Vaudreuil-Dorion man
A 53-year-old Vaudreuil-Dorion man died Tuesday afternoon from injuries suffered during a traffic accident on Highway 30 in Vaudreuil-Dorion.
Sûreté du Québec police say the victim, Paul Rozon, collided with another vehicle while he was attempting to switch lanes on the highway. The victim was thrown from his car after the vehicle impacted with a highway guardrail. He was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries. A driver and passenger in the other car were not badly hurt. An investigation is underway.
Internet scam puts daters in compromising position
Police are warning people to keep their wits, and their clothing, about them when it comes to online dating and revealing too much.
Sûreté du Québec police say they’ve received close to a dozen complaints in the past few months about cases of online blackmail in which victims from the region have been hit-up for money after exposing themselves to would-be dating sight suitors.
Video footage or photos of the exposed victims in compromising positions were stored by the perpetrators, who then threaten to distribute the images if money, often thousands of dollars, was not sent.
Though perpetrators are often located in foreign countries, making it hard for police to track or arrest a criminal, SQ Vaudreuil-Soulanges police are nevertheless investigating several cases. Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
