Drug searches yield results
Drugs did not pay for a handful of criminals in the region who were caught by Sûreté du Québec officers during the past week.
One man was arrested on June 5 in Saint Zotique after police conducted a search and found close to nine pounds of marijuana in the home. Officers arrested Christopher Motard, charging him with production of cannabis and possession for the purpose of trafficking. The suspect was additionally charged with possession of a restricted firearm when a loaded .22 calibre handgun was found at the scene. Motard went before a judge on June 6.
Police also arrested two Les Coteaux residents following a June 4 raid. Officers were tipped off to the location after someone placed a 911 call. Once on the scene police found and seized 104 marijuana plants along with equipment used to grow, harvest and produce the drug.
Driving and dealing
And driving while talking on a cell phone is never a good idea, but it’s especially bad when you are also in possession of drugs. SQ police pulled a man over last week after he was spotted driving while talking on a mobile phone. During the routine stop officers also found in the driver’s possession more than a kilogram of cannabis. He was arrested and released on a promise to appear in court.
