A Ste. Anne-de-Bellevue church is putting a new twist on the old fashioned roof raising concept this weekend with a concert featuring some impressive musical talent.
In order to help fund a much needed replacement of its roof, Union Church will host a June 6 concert featuring music by Pierre Gallant and Jon Davis. During the past two years Davis has sung backup for Josh Groban and Celine Dion in Gregory Charles’ Mondial Choral at her Chantez pour Sainte-Justine avec Céline Dion fundraiser. Davis, who has additionally performed in professional chamber choirs with Éric Lapointe, Louis-Jean Cormier, Marie-Mai and Marc Dupré, completed a recent 18-show run with Cirque du Soleil. Gallant, a composer, arranger, performer and teacher, worked for the Royal Conservatory of Music for 25 years. He has composed many pieces for the RCM syllabus and graded books which are played and taught by students and teachers across Canada and beyond. Organizers say the June 6 performance that will get underway at 8 p.m., will take audience members on a musical journey spanning the musicians’ combined 85-year careers. A portion of the ticket sales will go to the Union Church roof fund. Union Church is situated at 24 rue Maple in Ste. Anne-de-Bellevue. For reservations or tickets call 514 453-9154, or go to www.unionchurch.ca.
